THE BOOK OF MAN

Composta per il documentario “China”, prodotto da Mango TV, Hunan TV e Beijing Bojing Culture con la regia di Li Dongshen. The Book of Man affornta la nascita della cultura umana: dai movimenti primordiali della materia alle più raffinate espressioni delle civiltà, dallo stupore dell’uomo di fronte al cielo stellato alla possibilità di una saggezza collettiva. Le sonorità si intrecciano a immagini ispirate alla pittura a inchiostro tradizionale cinese (shuǐ mò huà), dando vita a un viaggio musicale che attraversa le dinastie Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming e Qing. Il testo, affidato al coro, è tratto dal “De vita beata” di Lucio Anneo Seneca.



Composed for the documentary “China”, produced by Mango TV, Hunan TV, and Beijing Bojing Culture, directed by Li Dongshen. The suite explores the origins of human culture: from the primordial movements of matter to the most refined expressions of civilization, from humanity’s awe before the starry sky to the emergence of collective wisdom. The music weaves together with imagery inspired by traditional Chinese ink painting (shuǐ mò huà), creating a sonic journey through the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The choral text is drawn from Lucius Annaeus Seneca’s De Vita Beata.
