- I’m seriously obsessed with three things: composing, recording and manipulating sound. Film music came as a gift, the possibility to change the expressive universe every time, reshuffle cards, play new games. I love originality and independence, I seek this in others and work to improve mine every day.
Stefano is a composer. His first instrument was a classic guitar made by his grandfather, who was a carpenter, out of some old wardrobe doors. And then came the Renaissance lute, which he studied at Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, along with piano, flute, bass, and drums. He has a degree with high honors in Cultural Anthropology and studied Ethnomusicology in London. He is especially interested in non conventional scoring. He has just provided it with his Stabat Mater, as seen in Wong Kar Wai’s The Grandmaster, two Academy Awards nominee.
Stefano’s television work has screened in Italy and around the world, and includes the Italian Series and TV Movies The Red Door Se 01/02, Braccialetti Rossi Se 01/02/03 nominated at the Emmy Awards, El Maestro, Bakhita, Drawn for Jury Duty, and the documentaries Skin Deep (ABC), Death at Dawn (ZDF), Einer von Uns (Arte Tv).
He composed the soundtrack for feature films Maresia (premiered at 2015 Festival des Films du Monde, Montreal), The Nest of the Turtledove, Shooting Silvio, Taranta on the road, Grazing the Wall, selected at 69th Venice International Film Festival.
His album Stabat Mater (Milan Records, distributed by Warner Classics/Universal) was iTunes Top 10 Original Score Albums in Belgium, Italy, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. It was No.1 in Hong Kong.
Stefano is represented in US by The Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency.
He is a very proud endorser of Metric Halo.
